PRE-WORKSHOP PREP

Gather together the supplies and materials, ably assisted by the Need/Want list.

Download the Tiny Zine Reference Library, and fold all the zines

Also STRONG recommend doing the same with the Tiny Zine Starter Library

The WHYS of making the zines

Making Tiny Zines is pretty easy – the last bit of the folding is the second hardest part [first hardest for some people is deciding what to make their zine about]. By folding these zines in advance, you are practicing this skill. By practicing this skill, you are gaining confidence. The more confident you are, the more you can help with zinemakers uncertainties. Everyone’s a winner.

The WHYS of showing the zines

By having a number of tiny zines to introduce at the start of the workshop you are doing two things.

1. showing a source of inspiration, giving an idea of what’s possible for people who might nenver have seen a zine before

2. introducing the idea of a larger community of zinemakers, that this workshop is part of a worldwide movement.

Step By Step Zine Workshop

1. Introduce tiny zines, and show a few different styles and genres. Tell the zinemakers to start thinking of what they could make their zine about

2. Guide them through the folding process, helping where necessary

3. Everybody makes their zines about whatever they want using the materials available

DONE! Or not… zines might not get finished in a short workshop time. But the seed is planted!
